29 September 2011 - Reservoirs, Teesdale, County Durham.
This afternoon we visited another three reservoirs grouped together along the River Balder which flows into the River Tees between Middleton-in-Teesdale and Barnard Castle. Walkers anglers and motorists seemed well catered for when we visited, with plenty of car parks convenient for the reservoirs and surrounding moors.
The first three photos below are views of Hury Reservoir taken beside the dam and spillway. The next three photos are views of Blackton Reservoir taken from the dam of Balderhead Reservoir using a long camera lens.
The last two photos are views of Balderhead Reservoir, the largest of this group of reservoirs.
28 September 2011 - Grassholme and Selset Reservoirs, Teesdale, County Durham.
After we visited Cowgreen Reservoir we visited another two reservoirs nearby to take some additional photos in the late afternoon light.
The first two photos below are views of Grassholme Reservoir, followed by two views of Selset Reservoir.
28 September 2011 - Cow Green Reservoir, Teesdale, County Durham.
This afternoon we visited Cowgreen Reservoir high up in the Pennines and Teesdale. The reservoir is near the source of the River Tees which flows through it and the boundary between County Durham and Cumbria runs through the middle of it.
The first photo below is a view across the reservoir followed by three views of an old road that disappears into the water. The last photo is a view of the visitor car park above the reservoir.
28 September 2011 - Middleton-in-Teesdale, County Durham.
This afternoon we visited Middleton-in-Teesdale, a village beside the River Tees in County Durham. We were on our way further up the valley to Cow Green Reservoir but decided to have a walk around the village and take some photos while we were there.
Below are four photos taken around the village and a view of the River Tees taken from the bridge just outside the village.
27 September 2011 - Barnard Castle, Teesdale, County Durham.
Today we visited Barnard Castle in Teesdale, County Durham where we were staying for a few days. Walking along the riverside footpath we visited the town centre and castle.
The first two photos below are views of the town centre, followed by two views of the castle remains which overlook the River Tees.
The last photo is a view along the River Tees looking towards the castle which can be seen on the right of the photo.
22 September 2011 - Blyth, Northumberland.
Today we visited Blyth for a walk along the beach to the harbour. It was a very windy day with sand being blown across the beach in mini sandstorms.
The first photo below is a view along the beach to the West Pier, followed by a view along the pier itself with the end of the East Pier and Lighthouse on the left.
The next three photos are views of the South Harbour where the cargo ship Pride of Sneek was being loaded with containers.
14 September 2011 - Morpeth, Northumberland.
After we visited Bolam Lake Country Park, we stopped to take some photos in Morpeth around the Marketplace and Carlisle Park.
The first photo below is a view of the Courthouse from Carlisle Park, followed by a view of Ha' Hill, site of the original castle in Morpeth. The third photo is another view towards the Courthouse followed by a view of the Aviary in Carlisle Park.
The last photo is a view of Morpeth Marketplace looking towards Newgate Street.
14 September 2011 - Bolam Lake, Northumberland.
This morning we visited Bolam Lake Country Park for a walk around the lake. It was a fine, sunny morning but quite cold.

07 September 2011 - Cresswell, Northumberland.
This afternoon we visited Cresswell for a short walk along the beach and to take a few photos for our Northumberland website.
The first two photos below are views from the small car park above the south end of the beach near Snab Point. The next three photos are views along the beach looking in both directions.
04 September 2011 - Amble, Northumberland.
This evening we visited Amble for a walk around the harbour and piers. Not a lot of people about, except for a few fishing from the pier and those returning from a Coquet Island trip.
The first two photos below are views of fishing boats moored at the quayside, followed by two views of the Puffin Cruise boat returning from Coquet Island with cold looking passengers. The last photo is a view from the pier shortly after sunset.
02 September 2011 - Cambois Beach, Northumberland.
On a dull afternoon at the end of a dull week, we visited Cambois Beach and the mouth of the River Wansbeck. It was low tide and the water where the river meets the sea was so shallow that people were crossing in wellies.
The first two photos below are views of the mouth of the River Wansbeck, followed by two views of some of the boats stored above the river. The last photo is a view looking towards the mouth of the river after the tide had turned.
