27 April 2011 - North Blyth, Northumberland.
Today we visited Cambois and North Blyth to take photos of the coast and of the restored Deltic diesel locomotive "Royal Scots Grey" which was hauling trains for Alcan.
The first photo below shows the loco approaching Cambois and the next two photos are views of it at North Blyth.
The fourth and fifth photos are views along the River Blyth and the last photo is a view looking north along the coast at North Blyth.
19 April 2011 - Wylam, Northumberland.
Today we walked from Newburn to Wylam along the north side of the River Tyne, following the track of the old railway as far as Hagg Bank Bridge.
The first photo below is a view to Heddon from the footpath to Wylam. The next two photos are views in Wylam of the Ship Inn and the Parish Church of St. Oswin.
The last three photos are views of the River Tyne taken from Hagg Bank Bridge, Wylam Bridge and the shore near Stephenson's Cottage.
16 April 2011 - Pegswood Station, Northumberland.
The Steam Engine Sir Nigel Gresley was hauling an excursion train to Edinburgh today, so we visited Pegswood Station to take some photos as it passed through.
Below are two views of the train approaching and passing the platforms.
06 April 2011 - Elsdon, Northumberland.
After visiting Otterburn today we stopped at Elsdon and Winters Gibbet to take some more photos.
The first two photos below are views of the church and village green at Elsdon, followed by a view back to the village from the road to Morpeth. The fourth photo is a view from Battle Hill Viewpoint further along the road.
The fifth photo is a view of Winters Gibbet, now without the wooden head, followed by a view of the National Park boundary sign and the Cheviots in the distance. The last photo is a view looking east where the Northumberland coast can be seen with a long lens or binoculars.
06 April 2011 - Otterburn, Northumberland.
This morning we visited Otterburn Village and Mill. On the way we stopped at Ottercops Moss and Raylees Burn to take some extra photos.
The first two photos below are views of the River Rede taken from the bridge beside Otterburn Mill which is seen in the second photo. The third photo is a view of the Otterburn Tower Hotel in the village.
The fourth photo is a view along the River Rede looking towards Otterburn and the fifth photo is a view looking north along the A696 to Otterburn at Ottercops Moss. The last photo is a view of the communication masts at Ottercops Moss, site of a World War 2 Radar Station.
06 April 2011 - Cambo, Northumberland.
This morning we visited Cambo Church on our way to Otterburn.
