This morning we went walking at Simonside, visiting Ravensheugh and Tosson Hill before returning down through the forest.
The first two photos below are views of Simonside from the track leading to the crags, followed by a view of the seats which look out across Coquetdale to the Cheviot Hills.
The fourth photo is a view of Tosson Hill from Ravensheugh followed by a view from Tosson Hill of the River Coquet at Hepple. The last photo is a view of Ravensheugh from Tosson Hill.
25 August 2010 - Newbiggin, Northumberland.
This morning we visited Newbiggin, early in the morning, to take some updated photos for our Northumberland photo website.
The first two photos below are views along the bay looking north, followed by another two views looking across the bay to the Church Point.
The fifth photo is a view of the beach near the Cafe Riviera where a lot of birds were gathered and obviously had found a source of food. The last photo is a view from the Church Point looking across the breakwaters and the bay.
19 August 2010 - Hauxley Beach, Northumberland.
This afternoon we visited Hauxley for a walk along the beach, starting from the north end of Druridge Bay. It was cloudy but there were some bright sunny intervals and blue sky from time to time.
In the first two photos below, looking south, the sun was shining between the clouds, making the beach appear bright while the sky was very dark and dramatic. The next two photos show a very different picture looking north where the sky was much clearer.
The fifth photo is a view across to Coquet Island and the last photo is a view towards Amble and beyond.
16 August 2010 - Coney Garth, near Ashington, Northumberland.
This evening on a cycle ride we passed the lake at Coney Garth, near Ashington and stopped to take some photos. This is a private lake and is a favourite resting place for migrating Geese and home to a number of different types of wild birds including Swans, Coots, Ducks and others.
Below are some photos of the lake and a family of Swans feeding near the waters edge.
12 August 2010 - Amble, Northumberland.
This evening we visited Amble to take some new photos for our Northumberland photo website. Later we stopped at Hauxley to take some more views from the dunes.
The first photo below is a view of fishing cobles moored in the harbour at Amble, where visitors were sitting outside eating fish and chips at the picnic benches.
The next two photos are views of fishing boats moored at the quayside, followed by a view of one of the boats returning from sea.
In the fifth photo some dark clouds were hovering near Coquet Island where the lighthouse was gleaming in the low evening sun. The last photo is a view looking south over the cottages at Hauxley.
07 August 2010 - Mitford, near Morpeth, Northumberland.
This afternoon we visited Mitford to take a few photos on what was forecast as a fine day, but wasn't.
The first two photos below are from the remains of the weir between Morpeth and Mitford where a Heron was waiting patiently for passing fish. The next photo was taken just downstream where a ram with a fine set of horns was resting quietly in a field beside the river.
The last two photos are views of St. Mary Magdalene Church and Mitford Castle.
