29 March 2007 - Leaplish, Kielder Water, Northumberland.
After a very wet night and not quite so wet day, an evening walk through the forest above Leaplish, Kielder Water in Northumberland.
This appears to be a little used trail and cycle route that runs from the lakeside up a deep valley and into the forest. It was obstructed by a fallen tree that seems to have been there for some time. Once again, not another soul in sight during this walk.
28 March 2007 - Leaplish and Hawkhirst, Kielder Water, Northumberland.
Today after a misty start to the day we walked around Hawkhirst Penninsula at Kielder Water in Northumberland. It was still a hazy day after the mist lifted but was very pleasant and quite warm. We never saw another soul at Hawkhirst as we walked through the forest and around the lakeside.
Below is a view across Kielder Water at Hawkhirst in hazy sunshine with dark rain clouds approaching and earlier in the day, the Kielder Ferry, Osprey, moored in the thick morning mist.
27 March 2007 - Leaplish, Kielder Water, Northumberland.
This afternoon we went for a walk through the forest and along the lakeside at Leaplish Waterside Park, Kielder Water in Northumberland.
In the car park (where charges have been raised by 50% to £3 in time for Easter) a railway carriage has been sited on a short piece of track. This carriage is newly built and will be used on a new narrow gauge railway to be built on a stretch of the old Border Counties Railway Line near Kielder Village.
Below is a photo of the carriage with the Kielder Ferry, Osprey, moored at it's jetty in the background.
25 March 2007 - Garden Photos.
A fine day for enjoying the sunshine in the garden this afternoon. New growth on the plants is flourishing and many Ladybirds were also sitting in the sunshine, including this pair.
21 March 2007 - Blyth South Beach and Harbour, Northumberland Coast.
We visited Blyth today for a walk along the South Beach to the Harbour and to take photos for our Northumberland Photos website.
It was a fine day and the sea had quite a swell with good waves breaking onto the beach. One ship approaching with a full load was very low in the water and was moving about quite a bit as it turned towards the river. It is seen in the picture blow heading towards Blyth East Pier Lighthouse in calmer water. Another ship leaving empty was very high in the water and certainly was rocking as it left the river - not a good time for a cup of tea on the bridge!
While it was very calm in the harbour some people were enjoying the surf at the beach - canoeists and surfers, as seen in the bottom pictures. If you recognise yourself and would like a copy of the photo by e-mail get in touch via the

17 March 2007 - Amble, Northumberland Coast.
During an afternoon walk around the Harbour at Amble today we came across this nosy character snooping on a fishing boat!
What was going through his mind I wonder?
06 March 2007 - North Tyne Valley and Colt Crag Reservoir.
An outing today for the purpose of website photography, to the North Tyne Valley and surrounding area. The weather started dull but brightened throughout the morning into a lovely day.
On the way to the Tyne Valley we passed by Colt Crag Reservoir, which is beside the A68 road north of Stagshaw. The sky was still very threatening as the bottom two photos show.
The photo below was taken during a pleasant lunch stop beside the River North Tyne, near Barrasford, running high after a night of heavy rain.
03 March 2007 - Amble, Northumberland.
Another of our regular visits to the harbour at amble today, a day of fast moving clouds bringing bright sunshine then overcast skies.
In one of the bright sunny periods this yacht was sailing up the River Coquet towards the marina, shining like a new pin.
02 March 2007 - River Tyne, Tynemouth and North Shields.
An early morning visit to Tynemouth to take photos of the sunrise between the two Tyne Piers. A bank of cloud prevented a perfect sunrise but the sun quickly rose above it.
Afterwards the beautiful morning sunshine provided some good photo opportunities further up the river at the Fish Quay and Shields Ferry.
The bottom two photos show the sunrise between the piers and it's reflection in the old Coastguard building windows. The second photo shows boats at the Fish Quay and below is the Queen of Scandinavia looking dazzling as she arrives from Holland.
