Les + Jan Bell - Photographers Diary - Jan. 2005

30 Jan. 2005 - Pegswood Railway Station, East Coast Main Line, Northumberland.

As sunset approached today it was obvious that it would be a spectacular one with a lot of fiery colour in the sky, ideal for strong reflections and silhouettes. Railways with overhead cables provide both. Ugly through the day, the pylons and power cables form patterns against the coloured sky along with the reflections on the curved track.

This photo was taken from the southbound platform at Pegswood Station on the East Coast Main Line.

29 Jan. 2005 - Bothal, Northumberland.

Today we went for a late afternoon walk to Bothal. Below are photos of Bothal Castle and the sunset on the return walk.

27 Jan. 2005 - Ladyburn Lake, Northumberland.

This afternoon we walked around Ladyburn Lake which is situated behind the dunes at the north end of Druridge Bay. The surrounding area was an opencast mine which closed many years ago.

Below is a view across the stepping stones at the west end of the lake, some of which are a bit wobbly when you cross them.

20 Jan. 2005 - Druridge Bay, Northumberland Coast.

A visit to Cresswell at the south end of Druridge Bay today to take some photos for our Northumberland photos website. It was a cold day with not many people about apart from a few walkers and sea anglers.

Below is a view of a lone angler seen through a gap in the sand dunes.

16 Jan. 2005 - Nunriding, Northumberland.

Today we went for a walk at Nunriding near Morpeth to try out a new camera. It was a lovely sunny and crisp winter day, perfect for walking in the countryside.

Below is a view along the road from Nunriding hall to Morpeth.

13 Jan. 2005 - Rothbury, Northumberland.

Today we visited Rothbury for a walk along the river and through the village. Rothbury is always a nice place to visit, especially in winter when it is less busy.

12 Jan. 2005 - Bothal, Northumberland.

An afternoon walk to Bothal today in the winter sunshine. Hedges along the roadside that would normally be bare have much green in them. The view below could easily pass for a spring photo rather than winter.
